Parents & the “I Care” Three-in-One Curriculum Model
We believe that parents are the missing link in character development programs. Research is clear about the positive impact of parental involvement and how it contributes to the development of character, increases academic achievement, and improves attitudes and behaviors. Parents who complete the monthly “I Care” activities significantly increase the amount of time they are involved with their child, as well as the quality of that involvement.
Role of Parents
- Attend annual training (It only takes 15 minutes.)
- Complete the five “I Care” activities with their child each month
- Return the Feedback Form to the school indicating how many of the activities they did, and others they initiated on their own at the end of each month
Benefits to Parents
- New ideas and strategies for interacting with their child
- Improved relationship with their child
- A child who is more confident, respectful, and self-directed
- Greater understanding of how important they are in the life of their child
- Positive comments about their child from teachers
- Provides a topic of conversation for parents and teachers
- Increases communication with school
- Increases respect and harmony within the home
- Encourages accountability from everyone involved
